About Us

LAEA is a professional organization and an affiliate of the National Art Education Association. Our membership includes preK, elementary, middle, and high school visual arts educators; college and university professors; university students preparing to become educators; researchers and scholars; teaching artists; administrators and supervisors; and art museum educators in the state of Louisiana. The LAEA board is organized to serve as the executive authority of the Association and to support our membership. It is the mission of LAEA to promote art education through professional development, service, leadership, and advocacy.

Black Lives Matter

Through the use of our primary tool of art education, LAEA stands with Black Lives Matter to end systemic racism and injustice in our schools and communities. We acknowledge this is an ongoing process and commitment that requires intentional listening and purposeful action to implement a conscious anti-racist framework. We can do better.
